A shield 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in height and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width per bend blue and red, on the blue the four stars of the Southern Cross and on the red a tower of the old stone fort of El Caney, Cuba, all white.
The blue and red of the shield are representative of the Infantry and Artillery characteristics of the organization. The white figure on the red background represents a tower of the old stone fort of El Caney, Cuba, where the 25th Infantry Regiment played a gallant part in the battle of El Caney on 1 July 1898. The white stars on the blue background represent the Southern Cross and symbolizes the combat service of the 25th Combat Team in the Southwest Pacific during World War II.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 11 July 1946.
