Description
Retired: A device of gold color metal and enamel 7/8 inch (2.22 cm) in diameter consisting of the U.S. Army Star logo surrounded by a black designation band inscribed "RETIRED" at top and "SOLDIER FOR LIFE" at bottom in gold. Veteran: A device of gold color metal and enamel 7/8 inch (2.22 cm) in diameter consisting of the U.S. Army Star logo surrounded by a black designation band inscribed "SOLDIER FOR LIFE" at bottom in gold.

Symbolism
The U.S. Army Star logo is the most recognized image associated with the United States Army.

Wear Policy
Lapel buttons are worn by males on the left lapel of civilian clothing and females wear the buttons in a similar location on their civilian attire.

Background
The Secretary of the Army approved the lapel button designs on 29 July 2014.
