Description
On a Gray vertical, rectangular-shaped embroidered item arched convexly at the top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border; a silver gray hawk's head erased, facing right with red feathers, outlined and detailed black. Attached above the rectangle, a red scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, inscribed "WESTWOOD" in black letters. Attached below the rectangle, a red scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "REDHAWKS" in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 9/16 inches (6.51 cm) in width.

Symbolism

Since August 2012 Westwood High School has provided students with opportunities for growth in the areas of academics, leadership, and service. The school colors are represented by black, red and silver. The Red hawk is the school's mascot, a name inspired by the Blythewood area's common bird of prey, the red-tailed hawk. This powerful bird symbolizes determination, courage and strength, as well as highlights the school's achievements in academics and extracurricular activities.
