Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On an inner disc fimbriated with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) blue border and divided horizontally blue over white a gray indented horizontal band, surmounted by the profile head of a Native American Warrior in proper colors; all circumscribed by a white band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border inscribed "MAGNA VISTA" above and "WARRIORS" below in blue letters. The overall dimension is 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter.         


Symbolism

Blue, gray and white are the school colors.  The Native American warrior is the school's mascot and symbolizes the school's location on the prehistoric site of Indian occupation.  The indented band suggests mountains and reflects geographic features of the Piedmont region of the state of Virginia.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 7 March 1995, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversions on 26 July 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-387)
