Distinctive Unit Insignia

Blazon

Shield. A gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inch (3.18cm) in height blazoned as follows: Gules, a pall wavy arrondi Azure fimbriated Argent, at fess by an escutcheon blazoned: Vert, a sword palewise, point up, and two flintlock pistols saltirewise throughout, all Or. Attached to bottom of the shield, a flowing Green scroll inscribed “DEFENDING OUR OWN” in Gold.


Symbolism

Shield. The red shield with flowing blue and white rivers meeting at the center symbolize Missouri, the home of the 35 Military Police Brigade. Green and gold are the traditional colors of the Military Police and crossed M1805 pistols are the symbols of law and order. The sword is oriented upward to signify military justice and strength, underscoring the unit’s motto, “DEFENDING OUR OWN.”

The distinctive unit insignia for the 35th Military Police Brigade was approved on 30 September 2020.
