Border Patrol Centennial Commemoration Medal


Description

Obverse.  On a circular gold metal device 1-7/16 in diameter, within a ring of 22 stars a disc composing of an outline of the continental United States charged with the stacked inscription of “U.S. BORDER PATROL” emitting 22 rays separating each star; all enclosed by a laurel wreath charged with a scroll at the bottom bearing the date “1924-2024.”

Reverse.  On the reverse, the stacked inscription “CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION OF SERVICE” in three lines between “U.S. BORDER PATROL” arched along the top and “HOMELAND SECURITY” arched along the bottom, all enclosed by a laurel wreath surmounting a scroll.

Ribbon.  The ribbon is 1-3/8 inches wide and consists of the following stripes: 1/4 inch Ultramarine Blue, 1/8 inch Golden Yellow, 3/16 inch Irish Green, 1/16 inch Black, 1/8 inch White, 1/16 inch Black, 3/16 inch Irish Green, 1/8 inch Golden Yellow, and 1/4 inch Ultramarine Blue.

 


Symbolism

Medal.  Gold denotes honor.  The laurel wreaths symbolize achievement.  The 22 stars and rays represent the sectors composing the Border Patrol.  The continental United States celebrates the hundred years of service provided by the agents who safeguard the borders of the nation.

Ribbon.  Blue represents the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Gold symbolizes the border of the United States.  Green signifies land.  Black and White honors past and current achievements of the agents and officers.
