Symbolism

The shape of the escutcheon and its Southern Cross allude to the Marine Corps Raiders and their lineage as a special operation force. The USMC version of the stiletto dagger, issued to the 1 and 2 Raider Battalions during World War II, signifies stealth, precision, and purpose. The eagle embodies the spirit of the nation, freedom and liberty. The motto, “SPIRITUS INVICTUS” translates to: Undefeated Spirit.

Miniature Badge

A miniature badge, 7/8 inch (2.22 cm) in height and 1 3/16 inch (3.02 cm) in width is authorized.
