Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Gules, a parachute Proper (White with Yellow cords) transporting a projectile Or, on the umbrella a gun with carriage Sable.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield is a Gold scroll inscribed WE LEAD THE WAY in Black letters.

Symbolism
The colors scarlet and yellow are for Field Artillery.  The parachute indicates the special airborne mission of the organization.  The projectile and mounted gun symbolize the effective mobile action of the Battalions weapons.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 February 1956.
