ACCURACY WITH SPEED.
The design of the shield is based upon the coat of arms of the old 135th Field Artillery Regiment from which this organization has descended. Civil War service is indicated by the saltire; World War I service, by the three alerions from the arms of Lorraine. The border is scarlet and yellow for Artillery, is a heraldic mark of difference and indicates descent.
The crest is that of the Ohio Army National Guard.
The coat of arms was approved on 16 September 1954. It was rescinded on 23 September 1964.
