Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
A white circular device edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, the overall diameter 3 inches (7.62 cm) on which is the white figure of Beneficence, detailed black, between two arced inscriptions "BALL STATE" above and "UNIVERSITY" below, in red letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Symbolism
Red and white are the colors of the University. The figure of the Beneficence represents the contributions to the community by the Ball brothers canning jar fame) which made Ball State University possible.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 6 October 1982. It was amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 18 February 2015. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-238)

Description
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a white enamel shield on which is the silver figure of Beneficence. Attached below the shield, a red enamel arch scroll inscribed "BALL STATE UNIVERSITY" in silver letters.

Symbolism
The colors white and red, and the figure of Beneficence are taken from the seal of the University.

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 6 October 1982. It was amended to update the manufacturing drawing on 18 February 2015.
