All encircled by a white designation band inscribed with "THE COLLEGE OF INTERNATIONAL SECURITY AFFAIRS" around the top and "NATIONAL DEFENSE UNIVERSITY" around the bottom in black letters with black star spacers in between top and bottom.

Symbolism
The globe symbolizes world studies. The eagle represents vigilance, security, and strength tempered by wisdom and discernment which can be used to devise defense strategies. An eagle's sharp eye can locate potential threats from great distances away. An eagle's wings provide quick flight as well as the ability to hold its flight over a given location.
