SEAL: On a purple ring bordered by a gold rope, a grouping of four white faceted stars shaded silver gray to either side and separating the designation US STRATEGIC COMMAND arched in chief and INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE in base in gold faceted letters. A gold shield marked with J2 is centered on the lower base of the designation ring and divides the two words in base. Within a narrow gold border on a dark blue background, four white pole stars set on two light blue orbits all above a demi-bald eagle issuant from base, wings enfolding a demi-terrestrial globe, showing the polar region of the North American Continent below crossed swords emanating from beneath the eagle's wing tips. Above the eagle and overall, a gold swallow tail scroll folded at either end with the motto LIBERTAS PER SCIENTIAM in shaded letters between the folds.
The gold rope represents strength of leadership and unit integrity to accomplish the mission. Purple symbolizes the joint environment. The four stars on each side of the outer ring indicate the U.S. Strategic Commands leadership and status as a combatant command. The inner gold border reflects the standard of excellence within intelligence operations. The terrestrial globe signifies the global mission to support USSTRATCOM and worldwide span of intelligence responsibilities. The eagle, our national symbol, signifies readiness and the commands diligence in executing the intelligence operations. The crossed swords represent the role of intelligence in support of the warfighter.
The Latin motto, "Libertas per Scientiam," translates to "Freedom through Intelligence."
