Light blue denotes the City of Omaha's location on the Missouri River, 10 miles north of the Platte River, making the City the anchor of the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area. The shield shape is reminiscent of the prow of LCS 12 and further resembles the home plate of a baseball field from the College World Series, held every year in Omaha. The blue arrowhead alludes to the patch of the USS OMAHA (SSN 692) and honors the various Native American tribes that lived in the land that became Omaha. The sunburst suggests the one displayed on the City of Omaha flag and is symbolic of the westward migration of settlers that flowed through the City.
The anchor and four stars denote USS OMAHA as being the fourth vessel to bear that name. The railroad tracks symbolize the First Transcontinental Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad which provided an essential developmental boon for the City.
The ship's Latin motto derives from that of Omaha, Nebraska and translates to "Courageously in Every Enterprise," which denotes LCS 12's leadership and her crew's willingness to brave any future endeavor.
