Description

A shield shaped embroidered item arched outwardly at top blazoned as follows: Tenné between a chevron Argent in chief between a pallet couped of the second, in dexter a pine tree and in sinister a raven rising, all Sable and in base a mullet of the second. Attached above the shield, an arched orange scroll inscribed "SAM HOUSTON STATE" in White edged between the shield and the scroll a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) White border; all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) White border.


Symbolism
Orange and white are the school colors.

Background

The first shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 6 April 1958. It was cancelled and the current design was approved on 4 August 1977, it is currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings, description and symbolism on 3 June 2015. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-244)

Description

A silver colored metal and epoxied shield shaped device diagonally blazoned as follows: Per bend Tenné and Argent (Silver) in sinister chief a raven, and in base a mullet countercharged. Attached below the shield, a Silver scroll inscribed "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" in Orange letters.


Symbolism
Orange and white are the school colors.

Background

The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 22 October 1957, it is currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings, description and symbolism on 3 June 2015.
