Heraldry Multi

A vertical Purple oval shaped item 3 7/8 inches (9.84 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border. Displaying stylized white letters "TSU" the "T" forming a torch with white flames at top.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved on 20 September 1950. It was amended due to a new design on 1 November 1973, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 3 June 2016. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-264)

A silver colored metal and epoxied device, 1 1/8 (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a lamp of knowledge with flame in front of a horizontal sword enveloped by a saddle, all silver; the blade point pommel and part of the hilt surmounting the sides of a vertical continuous silver scroll inscribed "TARLETON" at top and "TEXANS" at bottom in purple letters.

The short sword represents leadership and military training. The saddle alludes to outdoor activity and the western atmosphere associated with Texas. The lamp of knowledge is indicative of academic learning and wisdom.

The shoulder loop Insignia was originally authorized on 19 February 1969, currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 3 June 2016.
