Description

A shield shape embroidered item blazoned as follows: Tenné, a diminutive pall reversed Sable between the cyphers T, M and I of the second, all within a diminutive border of the last.


Symbolism

Orange and black are the school colors. The cyphers are the school's monogram.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved 2 June 1997, it is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 13 January 2017. (TIOH Drawing Number a-10J-552)

Description

A Gold color metal and epoxied shield device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, an escutcheon blazoned: Tenné a diminutive pall reversed of the first between the cyphers T, M, and I Sable, all within a diminutive border of the first; perched, above the shield an eagle, wings inverted of the first. A tripartite scroll Or, surmounting the base of the shield inscribed "TEXAS-MILITARY INSTITUTE" and below the shield, a scroll inscribed "SAN ANTONIO" all Or, all surmounting a rifle, muzzle upwards and sword point downwards, in saltire.


Symbolism
The device is in the colors of the school and reflects the military drill and education of the cadets.
