Symbolism

Blue and orange are the school colors. The school's mascot, the panther, was adopted by the class of 1949, reportedly because of a nearby Native American effigy mound in the shape of a panther. This fierce wildcat is a symbol of courage, leadership, and strength. Its extending paw with bared claws further suggests the panther's ferocity.
