Seal


Description

On a white disc edged gold a medium blue demi-globe and lined white issuing from two gold diagonally crossed laurel branches in base, below an arc of thirteen medium blue stars and overall an eagle displayed in proper colors grasping three gold lightning flashes in each talon and bearing upon its breast a shield blazoned as follows: "Paley of thirteen argent and gules a chief azure", all beneath the inscription, "DEFENSE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AGENCY" in black letters.


Symbolism

Medium blue and gold are the colors traditionally associated with the Department of Defense. The stars and eagle adapted from the Department of Defense seal represent the mission of Defense Information Systems Agency in serving the Department of Defense. The lightning bolts symbolize speed and allude to communications and the electronic transmittal of information. The blue demi-globe denotes worldwide responsibilities and capabilities while the laurel is emblematic of achievement and honor.
