Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) silver gray border, blazoned as follows: Gules, two pales Argent, a chief arched Azure; overall a stylized Continental Soldier’s head affrontée of the second, detailed of the third bearing three mullets to sinister of the second. Attached above the item a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) silver gray border inscribed “PROVIDENCE GROVE” in silver gray. The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height by 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in width.


Symbolism

Blue, white and silver are the school colors.  The red and white division of the shield and a blue chief recalls the arms of the United States. The Continental Soldier pays homage to the school’s mascot, the Patriot.

Blazon

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Argent, a diminutive pall reversed Argent (Silver) between, in dexter a winged foot in, in sinister a lyre surmounted by a theater mask and in base a lamp enflamed, all Azure.  Attached below the shield, a blue scroll inscribed “PROVIDENCE GROVE PATRIOTS” in Silver.


Symbolism

The lyre and theater mask denote the arts and characterize extracurricular activities. The winged foot is emblematic of athletics, health, and fitness. The lamp suggests wisdom and knowledge and the pursuit thereof. Blue, White, and Silver (Gray) are the school’s colors.
