A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 inch (2.54 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, a bend Argent; in chief three increscents, two and one of the last; in base a seven blossom Lupinus Texensis of the second.
The shield is scarlet for Artillery. The three silver increscents are taken from the arms of Luneville where the Regiment received its baptism of fire. The seven blossom Lupinus Texensis (Blue Bonnet), the state flower of Texas, denotes the birthplace of the Regiment and its numerical designation in the Field Artillery regiments of the United States Army.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 7th Field Artillery Regiment on 26 February 1923. It was redesignated for the 7th Field Artillery Battalion on 13 June 1941. It was cancelled on 20 April 1960. The insignia was reinstated and redesignated effective 1 September 1971, for the 7th Field Artillery Regiment.
