Maroon and white are the colors associated with the school. The blue and white rays suggest inspiration received by the cadets from their instructors and families and the school. The cross denotes the school's affiliation with the Lutheran Church. The crown on the cross reflects the motto "CHRIST IS THE CENTER." The olive branches stand for peace and indicate citizenship and leadership instruction received by the cadets for improving our society. The open book alludes to the academic instruction the cadets receive.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 21 December 1992.
