Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A scarlet shield bordered white on which is a blue saltire fimbriated white below a scarlet chief, fimbriated white bearing three white stars. Attached above the shield is a blue scroll bordered white and inscribed "BEL AIR" in white letters. The overall dimensions of the shoulder sleeve insignia is 3 5/8 inches (9.21 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 24 September 1971.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description
A silver colored metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned:  Argent (Silver Gray), a Highlander head erased below the shoulders of the first, detailed Azure, garnished Gules; all within a diminutive border of the last."  Attached above the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed "HIGHLANDERS" in Silver letters and attached below the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed "LOYAL FOREVER" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Red, white and royal blue are the school colors.  Red symbolizes courage, a trait the cadets possess in conquering any task or obstacle that comes their way.  White (Silver) reflects maturity a characteristic the cadets' show in their conduct.  Blue alludes to loyalty, a virtue the cadets possess for each other and their country.  The school's mascot is the Highlander; a regimental Scottish warrior of the highlands of Scotland.  The students identify with their mascot and the fighting spirit it represents.  The school's motto is "Loyal Forever".
