Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a arched shield paly of six white and blue a bend counterchanged and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm)  blue border; a yellow pirate's head couped, hat, beard, pupil of eye, hair and eye patch black; trim of hat; eye, earring,  and scarf on head white.   Attached above the shield a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border inscribed "HARBOR CITY" in blue letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school's colors.  The pirate is the school's mascot.  The background of the shield suggests a portion of the Maryland State flag and reflects the home location of the Harbor City Learning Center.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Quarterly, Azure and Argent.  In first quarter a torch of knowledge bendwise, in second a key bendwise sinister, in third a wheel bendwise sinister, and in fourth a scroll bendwise Or.  Attached above, the shield a Blue scroll inscribed "KNOWLEDGE"; attached below, a Blue scroll inscribed "IMAGINATION", all in Gold letters.

Symbolism
Blue and white are the school colors.  The torch of knowledge represents education; the key signifies education as the key to the cadets' futures; the wheel represents progress; the scroll/diploma represents success and accomplishment of the goals of the cadets in
academic and community life.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 16 March 1994.
