A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, on a fess between two ranger knives fesswise all Argent, a Viking ship of the first.

The colors blue and white are for Infantry. The two Ranger knives represent wartime service as rangers and indicate the numerical designation of the organization. The Viking ship symbolizes the activation in Iceland as part of the 2nd Battalion Combat Team.
