Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
On a yellow disc with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall, a green mountain issuing from base bearing a yellow and green catamount in profile between the inscription "GREEN MOUNTAIN" above in green letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height and "CATAMOUNTS" below in yellow letters 5/16 (.79 cm) in height.
Yellow and green are the school colors. The catamount is the school's mascot and the green mountain is the symbolic of Vermont as the "Green Mountain State".
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 24 July 1987. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-24)
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: Vert, a catamount hérissoné affronté Or. Attached below the shield a Gold triparted scroll inscribed "UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT" in Green letters.
Green and gold are the school colors and the catamount is the school's mascot.
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 26 October 1959. It was amended to revise the description and include a symbolism for the design on 11 June 1987.
