On a white horizontal oval 2 inches (5.08 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border, a blue horse in stride charged with the bsu logo; "b" and "u" white, "s" orange, all above the inscription "BRONCOS" in blue letters arcing in base.
Blue and orange are the school colors. The wild horse is the school's mascot and Broncos is the school nickname. The logo identifies the cadets as school affiliated.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 16 April 1985. It was amended to add subdued colors and metric measurements on 22 April 1992. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-87)
