On a purple shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border a white demi-disc issuant from the top and emitting three white rays to base surmounted by a yellow tilting helmet lined purple. Attached below the shield, a yellow scroll inscribed "CAPITAL UNIVERSITY" in purple letters.
Purple and white are the school colors. The field is purple while the three white design elements symbolize belief in the trinity. The 14th century helmet represents strength, leadership, and civic pride, and is taken from an engraving by Albrecht Durer. Durer was a contemporary of Martin Luther and was influenced by his ninety-five Theses.
