Description

On a white disc shaped embroidered item, a red stylized head of a mule, teeth, eyes and eye highlights white, with pupils, details, and outlined black; all within a red designation band, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, the inscription "UNIVERSITY OF" at the top, and at the bottom "CENTRAL MISSOURI" in white letters. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter.


Symbolism

Red and black are the school colors, depicting courage and passion. The mule stands as the school's mascot, symbolizing the pride and spirit of the university.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 13 November 1969. It was cancelled due to a new design on 25 October 2018. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-212)

Description
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a red disc enclosed at top and sides by a silver horseshoe inscribed "FIGHTING MULES" in black letters; overall a torch with black handle enflamed silver bearing a kicking silver mule..

Symbolism
Red and black are the school colors. The horseshoe and kicking mule represent the school's mascot and spirit. The torch symbolizes knowledge and leadership.

Background

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 30 January 1987, is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 25 October 2018.
