A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Sanguine, a mountain range of two peaks issuant from base below a mullet Argent. Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "DEDICATED TO LEAD" in Silver letters.
Maroon and white are the school colors. The star represents the North Star, a celestial reference point, symbolizes the cadets' education as a focal point for future direction and purpose. The mountains suggest Mount Baldy and the surrounding locale of the school in the Inland Valley Region of Southern California.
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 16 October 1975. It was amended to change the design and update the description and symbolism of the new design on 1July 1997.
