A gold color and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Vert, a torch palewise Or flament Gules between, issuing from chief two lightning bolts chevronwise reversed Argent. Attached below the shield, a Gold scroll inscribed "CRANSTON EAST" in Green letters.
Green and white are the school colors. The torch represents knowledge and suggests the academic discipline gained through the ROTC program. The lightning bolts suggest "thunderbolts" The school's nickname.
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 5 March 1991. It was amended to change the colors of the lettering on the motto name of the school and update the description and symbolism of the new design on 26 March 1991.
