Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a blue shield, a yellow eagle in descent in upper right above a yellow lightning flash accented red issuing from viewer's upper left to lower right. Attached above the shield, a blue scroll inscribed "KENT STATE" in white letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 3/16 inches (5.56 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and gold are the colors of the University. The eagle is the University's mascot.

Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in diameter overall consisting of an inner yellow enamel disc on which is a blue enamel shield charged with a yellow enamel sunburst. Above the shield a blue enamel chimney swift. Around the disc a blue band inscribed "KENT STATE" at the top and "UNIVERSITY" in base in gold color metal letters.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 22 May 1973.
