Symbolism

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors.  Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations.  Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel.  The American Hornet (Vespa Maculata), also known as the Yellow Jacket, personifies the speed, agility and hard-hitting capabilities of the unit, and illustrates the Squadron's ability and readiness to aid and protect not only brother units of the Air Force, but all Arms and Services of the United States.  The scalloped ovate field, in the shape of a cloud, represents its effective habitat, the sky.
