Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
Description:   A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in width overall consisting of a blue benzene ring bearing a gold demi-sun superimposed by a green grassy mound all supported on either side by a gold dragon rampant, perched upon a blue scroll doubled and inscribed "DRAGONS IN SUPPORT" in gold.

Symbolism
Cobalt blue and golden yellow/gold are the colors associated with the Chemical Corps and represent the original designation of the unit.  The benzene ring is adapted from the Chemical Corps branch insignia.  The sunrise over the prairie is taken from the seal of Illinois, the "Prairie State" and location of the unit.  The dragons, symbolically staunch defenders, are traditionally associated with the Chemical Corps and epitomize the unit's motto.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 404th Chemical Brigade on 11 May 1990.  It was redesignated for the 404th Support Detachment on 14 April 1998.  The insignia was redesignated effective 1 September 2002, for the 404th Chemical Brigade.  It was redesignated for the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade with the symbolism revised effective 1 September 2011.
