On a white arc tab 3 7/8 inches (9.84 cm) in length and 11/16 inch (1.75 cm) in height overall, the designation HONOR GUARD in ultramarine blue letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. The subdued tab is identical, except the background is olive drab and the letters are in black.

The Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel (DCSPER) approved a tab for wear by selected Honor Guards on 16 March 1965. Proposed designs were submitted on 26 March 1965. The DCSPER approved the above design on 19 April 1965. A subdued tab is also authorized. (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-400)
