Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 (2.86cm) in height blazoned as follows: Sable, two bendlets bevilled Vert cottised Azure fimbriated Argent (Silver Gray), overall a sword erect throughout Gules, fimbriated of the fourth.



Symbolism
The bend is indicative of authority anddirection, and is fimbriated to allude to assistance. The five bendlets denote the Fifth Security Force Assistance Brigade. The beveled aspect suggests adaptability and overcoming adversity. The sword conveys force, whether it be offense, defense or the assistance in training partners towards those capabilities. The alternating colors blue and green signify the vastness of the Pacific and the land domain spread within it. The black background characterizes the Fifth Security Force Assistance Brigades home within the I Corps footprint at Fort Lewis. The red sword commemorates the Arrow of Valorfrom the Army Pacific Command.
