Shield. A gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inch (3.18cm) in height blazoned as follows Or, on a pile reversed Vert a pair of scales Or surmounted by a sentry box Proper, in chief two pistols in saltire muzzles upward Sable. Upon the shield, a gold morion helmet. Attached to sides of the shield, a gold scroll inscribed ISLAND SENTINELS in Black.



Description
Shield. Green and gold are the colors of the MilitaryPolice Corps. The morion helmet was worn by sentinels in Puerto Rico during thecolonial period. The crest on top of the helmet was designed to strengthen it,symbolizing the fortitude of the 124 Military Police Battalion.The crossed M1805 pistols are adapted from the Military Police branch insigniaand are colored black to signify dependability. The green pile alludes to thelush mountainous landscape of Puerto Rico and the silver sentry box representsOld San Juan. The pair of scales symbolize law enforcement and criminalinvestigation.

Crest. For the regiments and separate battalions of the Puerto RicoArmy National Guard: From a wreath Orand Vert, upon a book Gules with pages edged Or a paschal lamb couchant withstaff and banner of San Juan (Gules a cross Argent) all Proper.

Symbolism

Shield. Green and gold are the colors of the Military Police Corps. The pile and stripe arrangement refer to the state flag of Puerto Rico, the home of the 124th Military Police Battalion. Black symbolizes dependability and the pile shape suggests area security. The sentry box is a symbol of Old San Juan and represents battlefield circulation control operations.
