Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Blazon

Shield. On a green oblong shield, notched at its sides, edged with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) gold border with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height overall, blazoned: Vert, a sword palewise, point up, Or, arching above and below the handguard are the dexter and sinister portions of a fleur-de-lis Argent, all below three arching mullets of the last.


Symbolism

Shield. Green and gold are the colors associated with the Military Police Corps and the notched shield denotes the 35th Military Police Brigade’s combat support mission. The sword is pointed upward to signify military justice and strength. White is the color of integrity and the stylized fleur-de-lis is a tribute to the French influence on the first Military Police Corps, first established as the Marechaussee or “Marshalcy” by General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The three five-pointed stars suggest the unit’s designation and are emblematic of police authority.

Blazon

Shield.  A gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/4 inch (3.18cm) in height blazoned as follows: Gules, a pall wavy arrondi Azure fimbriated Argent, at fess by an escutcheon blazoned: Vert, a sword palewise, point up, and two flintlock pistols saltirewise throughout, all Or. Attached to bottom of the shield, a flowing Green scroll inscribed “DEFENDING OUR OWN” in Gold.


Symbolism

Shield.  The red shield with flowing blue and white rivers meeting at the center symbolize Missouri, the home of the 35th Military Police Brigade. Green and gold are the traditional colors of the Military Police and crossed M1805 pistols are the symbols of law and order. The sword is oriented upward to signify military justice and strength, underscoring the unit’s motto, “DEFENDING OUR OWN.”
