Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/32 inches (2.78 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, a diminished bordure Vert, on a chief indented Azure, two fleurs-de-lis of the first. Attached below the shield is a Blue scroll inscribed "VIA VI" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
The shield is yellow for Cavalry, with a green diminished bordure for Mexican Border duty. The indented chief charged with the fleurs-de-lis represents World War I service; it is indented to represent the Defensive Sector and the two fleurs-de-lis symbolize the two major engagements, the blue of the chief being taken from the unofficial flag of the State of Kansas.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 114th Cavalry Regiment on 22 July 1927. It was redesignated for the 127th Field Artillery Regiment on 5 December 1940. It was redesignated for the 127th Field Artillery Battalion on 17 September 1942. The insignia was redesignated for the 127th Artillery Regiment on 27 March 1961. It was redesignated for the 127th Field Artillery Regiment on 14 July 1972.
