A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/32 inches (2.62 cm) consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, a chevron between a battle axe, a giant cactus and a fleur-de-lis, all Or.

Symbolism
The shield is blue for Infantry. The battle axe was used by the Sarsfield Grenadiers as part of their drill paraphernalia; the giant cactus and the fleur-de-lis represent Mexican Border and World War I service, respectively.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 3 June 1927.
