Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: "Azure (Teal Blue) a mountain range Argent surmounted by two swords hilts to base saltirewise Gules; overall a gauntleted first of the second. Attached below the device a semi-circular Scarlet motto scroll inscribed "PERVINCO ACROCERAUNIA" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
The mountains refer to the unit motto and 10th Mountain Division designation. The swords are crossed to convey the Roman numeral ten; scarlet denotes valor and sacrifice. The conquering spirit of the unit is signified by the gauntlet. Teal blue represents the multiple branch makeup of the battalion, silver denotes integrity and high ideals.

Symbolism

Shield

Teal represents the multiple branch makeup of the Special Troops Battalion. The swords, scarlet representing valor, sacrifice and hardiness, are crossed to symbolize the Roman numeral ten, referring to the 10th Mountain Division. The mountains recall the division's early designation as a mountain unit and its participation in campaigns in Italy and in Operation Enduring Freedom. The unit's motto, (in English, Conquer the Mountain) is denoted by the mountain range. The gauntlet refers to the conquering spirit of the battalion and its ability to overcome all obstacles, enemies and challenges.
