Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Buff, a saltire Sable debruised by two chevronels in fret Argent interlaced by an annulet Gules.  Attached above the shield a Red scroll doubled and inscribed IRON EAGLE PROVIDERS in Silver.

Symbolism
Buff and scarlet are the colors traditionally used by Support units.  Red is emblematic of action and valor; the black saltire represents support and solidity.  The chevrons and rings are interlaced to symbolize cooperation and teamwork.  They form the illusion of a target siting and a helicopter landing pad, underscoring the aviation support mission of the unit.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 June 1996.
