A Gold color metal and enameled shield shaped device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Quarterly Sable and Or, in first, a stylized building bearing a sun in splendor, superimposed in base by five annulets interlaced; in second, an open book above two laurel branches in saltire; in third, an unfurled scroll surmounted by a quill pen bendsinisterwise and in fourth, a fouled anchor in bend, all Or (Gold); on a Chapournated chief Gules, a bulldog face of the third, detailed and collared of the fourth with seven (7) spikes of the third. SUPPORTERS: On either side a palm tree Proper. Attached above and below the shield a red scroll inscribed above BULLDOG PRIDE and below SOUTH BROWARD, in Gold.
The palm alludes to the state tree of Florida and the location of South Broward High School. The bulldog is the schools mascot, symbolizing loyalty. The shield divided into four sections conveys the esprit de corps of the ROTC battalion. The building and five interlaced rings signifies unity among the cadets and within the community. The sun indicates time, the open faced book and laurel branches symbolize the achievement of knowledge, the unfurled scroll and pen represents academic excellence and the fouled anchor signifies the students determination to face any challenges.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 18 September 2014.
