Symbolism
Purple and gold are the school colors.  The Bulldog with an eye patch is the schools mascot and reflects the merging of the East and West schools back into one school; which at one time separated into two schools.  The East school with their traditional Bulldog name and the West school with their Raiders name, shown now by the usage of the pirates patch on the dog.  The two bars wavy represent Lake Michigan which borders Waukegan, as well as the two schools flowing together once again as one.  The flames are in honor of the Potawatomi Native American tribe that once resided in Waukegan (the Potawatomi word for fort or trading post).  The name Potawatomi means fire keepers.  The name refers to their role in the Council of Three Fires; the alliance of the Chippewa, Ottawa and Potawatomi North American Native tribes.  Purple signifies loyalty, a trait the cadets have for their country and each other.  Gold alludes to honor, an attribute the cadets reflect in keeping high moral standards of behavior.

Background
