Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a black disc shaped embroidered item, a yellow silhouetted fort surmounted by a yellow open book in perspective, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border and inscribed at top "KELVYN PARK" in yellow. Overall diameter is 3 inches (7.62 cm).

Symbolism
Black and yellow are the colors of the High School.  The silhouetted fort alludes to the history and site of Fort Dearborn built in 1803 and is indicative of the geographic location of the School.  The open book is representative of the quest for knowledge and enlightenment refers to the academic goals of the School.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 20 May 1970.  It was amended to change the shape from a shield to a disc on 25 August 1972 currently amended to update the manufacturing drawing on 29 October 2014. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-1103)
