On a blue embroidered disc, a white wedge point down displaying a silhouette of Abraham Lincoln, below two crossed hatchets, blades up and pointing out, handles brown, axe head gray and bit white, encircled by a white designation band inscribed LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY at the top and RAILSPLITTERS at the bottom in blue. All within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter.
Blue and gray are the school colors. Blue represents justice, a trait the cadets follow in the spirit of their schools namesake. Silver (white and silver gray) symbolizes maturity, a quality the cadets reflect in their respectful actions every day. Black eludes to determination a virtue the cadets possess in conquering any adversity that comes their way. Brown signifies the earth and the respect the cadets have for their environment. The silhouette of Abraham Lincoln commemorates the President, for which the University is named. The crossed hatchets convey the battalion name Railsplitters.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 22 October 2014. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-231)
