Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a white oval radiating yellow rays from the center and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, a blue scroll bearing a white bulldog, detailed blue and shaded yellow, grasping a yellow rifle in its jowls, below two five-pointed stars in chief.   Arcing below the shield, a White scroll inscribed NORTH CAROLINA A. &T. STATE UNIV. in yellow letters. The overall dimensions are 3 5/8 inches (9.21 cm) in height by 3 1/32 inches (7.70 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and Yellow are the school colors. The bulldog is the schools mascot and grasping a rifle, which reflects the cadets military training. The two stars symbolize academic excellence and civic leadership, two qualities the cadets strive for.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 7 May 1993 and currently amended to update the manufacturing drawing on 30 October 2014. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-107)

Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a blue enamel shield on which stands a white enamel bulldog arraswise  grasping in its mouth a gold rifle, all below two gold five-pointed stars in the chiefs of the shield, one in dexter and one in sinister.  Attached below the shield a white enamel arced scroll inscribed CUSTODES PACIS in gold letters.

 The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 4 November 1976.  It was amended to add metric measurements and symbolism and update the description on 7 May 1993 and currently amended updated the manufacturing drawings on 30 October 2014.
