Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
A purple shield-shaped item with a rectangular scroll attached above the shield all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border 4 inches (10. 16 cm) in height overall; on the shield a white stylized sword within two white arched olive branches.  On the scroll the inscription TCU in white letters.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 18 December 1969 and currently amended to update manufacturing drawing on 13 January 2015.   (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-119)

Description
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a silver shield bearing a torch below a star of five points enamel; a silver chief fimbriated purple on which is a silver horned frog outlined and detailed purple, the shield within a three segmented silver scroll arched around the shield and folded behind the shield inscribed DISCIPLINA on the dexter segment, EST on the top segment and FACULTAS on the sinister segment in purple enamel letters.

Symbolism
The shield and motto are taken from the seal of the University.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 8 November 1979 and currently amended to update the manufacturing drawing on 13 January 2015.
