Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a green disc edged with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) red border, a dark green bulldog issuing from the viewers lower left, eyes, nose and teeth white, details black; encircling the disc a white designation band edged with an 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border, inscribed UNIVERSIDAD DE PUERTO RICO around the top and MAYAGUEZ in base, in scarlet letters.

Symbolism
Red symbolizes valor and white is for excellence. The bulldog is the mascot of the battalion and represents the determination of the cadets.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 01 October 1975, and currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings, on 3 February 2015 (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-240)

Shoulder Loop Insignia

Description
A Silver colored metal and enamel shield shaped device, 1 3/16 (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Azure, a base Celeste overall a silhouette of a torch enflamed Argent (Silver) the upper portion surmounted by an arrow erect of the first, the handle surmounted by the representation of a building, between two palm trees all of the third. Arched at the top of the shield is a red scroll inscribed UNIVERSIDAD in Silver letters,  at base looped behind the Red shield on each side to an arched Red scroll below the shield inscribed DE PUERTO RICO in silver letters.

Symbolism
Blue and light blue allude to the sky and sea surrounding Puerto Rico. The torch alludes to knowledge and effective leadership. The arrow represents the Taino Indians, ancestors of Puerto Ricans and to the military tradition of Puerto Rican fighting men. The building and palm trees are from the seal of the University of Puerto Rico.

The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 15 January 1975, and currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 3 February 2015.
