Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
A shield enarched and blazoned:  Tenn a chevron below a fess enhanced and engrailed of one to chief Sable.  Attached above the shield a Black arched scroll inscribed PRINCETON in Orange letters, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Orange border.  The overall dimensions are 3 3/8 inches (8.57 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width. 

Symbolism
Orange and black are the colors of the University.  The design is taken from the university seal which was adopted in 1896.  The chevron denotes the rafters of a building.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia originally authorized 1 March 1974 was amended 5 March 1998 to update the description and symbolism, and currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings, on 11 May 2015. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-146)

Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 inch (2.54 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned:  Tenn, a chevron Sable; on a chief of the like an open book Or inscribed with the Latin characters VET NOV TESTAMENTVM in Black.

Symbolism
The device is an adaptation of the Princeton University seal, which was adopted in 1896.  The University colors are orange and black.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia originally authorized 28 November 1930.  It was amended 14 February 1985 to update the description and currently amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 11 May 2015.
