A white disc edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) brown border, the overall diameter is 3 inches, on which is centered a brown matrix delineated white within an encircling inscription "ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY in orange letters 1/4 (.64 cm) in height.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 31 October 31 1969.  It was cancelled due a new design on 30 October 1981 and currently amended to update the manufacturing drawing on 21 May 2015.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-243)

A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a silver shield on which is a brown Matrix detailed silver supporting a bronze lamp of knowledge enflamed.  Attached above the shied a silver horizontal scroll inscribed RIT in brown letters.  

 The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 28 May 1976 and amended to update the manufacturing drawings on 21 May 2015.
